As a former Girl Scout, I pretty much peed in my pants when I saw this:

Aww! Right?

Then I read the description:

The requirements for this badge are simply that you read to your children, which sounds easy enough, right? But I bet you never thought you would read the same book so many times that you memorized the text, the images and even the pattern of wear and tear. If you know the words to any kid’s book, iron this badge onto your library bag and know that you have done a good job!

So this is the greatest thing I’ve seen today and I’m totally in love.

Bookish Thoughts: Book Quote Jewelry

I have to admit, I’m not really a jewelry person. I wear my wedding ring and sometimes a simple necklace. If I’m feeling crazy or dressing up I wear a clunky ring or bracelet. That’s it.

Maybe part of the reason is because I really don’t have any great jewelry.

What I’m saying is this: I need some of these.

I know that there is a name for this kind of jewelry, like the smashed out metal stuff… but I have no idea what it is. I kind of love it. This seller, peacesofindigo, has quite few that I really like.

This store, JezebelCharms, has a lot of cool cuffs and steampunk-y bracelets and earrings that have book quotes or are book inspired. Check out her store to be seriously blown away.

Bookish Thoughts: Bookmarks

I used to be the kind of person who would use a folded receipt, a piece of scrap paper, just whatever was nearby as a bookmark. In the last few years, I’ve begun getting really great bookmarks as gifts and lucking upon them in used books all of the time. Now I am a devoted fan of the bookmark. Right now, I’m using one that Shaun found for me that is a cross-stitch of the word “book” in Russian. I’m sort of obsessed with it.

I also have a habit of looking for cute ones on Etsy to give away and use myself. Here are some that I currently have bookmarked:

This seller makes a ton of fabric bookmarks. For some reason, they just seem so sweet to me. I love this one, but if you look in her store, I know you’ll find a ton that you can’t live without.

And.. my favorite. This is hilarious. A knitted, squashed rat? Morbid little me is pretty much obsessed.
