I’m Jacki. I’m from a small town in southern Ohio where I was raised on a healthy diet of old country music and Fun Dip. I have fond memories of spending whole days in the backyard, sprawled out on the picnic table or perched up in a tree reading a book. I’ve had this reading addiction for as long as I can remember, and now I’ve decided to blog about it. Fun, right?
In 2008, I married probably the greatest, most patient man in the world. His name’s Shaun and you’ll hear me talk about him quite a bit. He not only accepts my love of reading but encourages it. I know that it’s because it is the only thing about me that is nerdier than him. Seriously. He’s a nerd.
We have a lot of fun together. He can still get me laughing so hard I pee in my pants. We have a closet full of board games. We sing millions (I’ve counted!) of made up songs. We drink a lot of hot chocolate. We take fun little vacations. He does things like make my blog pretty. I do things like bake him cakes. We’re made for each other.
This is us at Fort Myers beach in March 2010. This is maybe the only picture of us ever that I look semi-normal and he has one eye closed. Because of that, I love it.
Shortly after we got married (I’m talking within days), we moved to northeastern Ohio so that Shaun could do work that he loves. We sort of love it. We’re surrounded by hills that change color with the seasons. We go to an incredible church that inspires and motivates us. During most of the year, we have the option to do most of our shopping at farmer’s markets. And we’re only an hour from Cleveland! Ha
Seriously though, I can’t complain.
On August 11th, 2010 we welcomed our little guy into this big world. His name is Isaac and I’m beyond obsessed with him. He does adorable things every day and I get to be around to see them. It’s kind of wonderful.
Here’s Isaac in November 2010. You don’t have to tell me he’s the cutest thing you’ve ever seen. I already know
Since Isaac’s been around, I’ve become a Stay at Home Mama. We spend our days playing and napping together. We go for walks and read tons of books. When his get boring, I just read him mine. So far he hasn’t complained.
One morning a week, I bake cupcakes and pies for a little family owned diner. I’m allowed a lot of creative freedom, so sometimes I get pretty crazy with my little baked goods. Bacon sprinkles, anyone? Yum! (Seriously, go check out their site. Shaun designed it. He’s way talented!)
So that’s all I’ve got. Thanks for stopping by my little blog. I’m glad to have you. If you have any questions or want to contact me for any reason, email me at jacki at lovelylittleshelf dot com.
Actually, I have one more thing for you.
Is this not the funniest thing you’ve ever seen? Ahhh. I love them.
