August: To Be Read Shelf

So you guys may remember last month, when I was feeling pretty good about my TBR pile… then went to a booksale and ACCIDENTALLY bought a giant stack of books… seriously. It was totally unintentional.

You probably will not be surprised to see that this month looks almost identical to last month:

It is a little crazy to me to see that there are a handful of books on there that were there when I started taking pictures in March.

Most of them still sound appealing to me, I just have a habit of reading my newer books first., but maybe I should go through and pull some off that I don’t actually plan on reading.

There is one on there that has been there for at least two years, because I remember moving into our current apartment and it being on the TBR shelf then.  Whoops.

Do you find yourself sometimes buying books that sound good at the time then just kind of sit there forever? How long do you keep books around before you just consider a book a lost cause and get rid of it?

    I am in this place now. I think I am going to go with 2 years. Even on my LibraryThing Wishlist, if they have been there for over 2 years I will read a review and decided YES or NO.

    Have fun and enjoy what you choose to read.

    I definitely have a problem with buying books and letting them sit there for years before I read them. I’m going to be moving next month, and I’ve decided that when packing I’ll go through my TBR shelves and force myself to get rid of the books I no longer want to read. I love your idea of taking pictures of your TBR shelves each month to check your progress – I may start doing it too (if I do I’ll link back to your posts!).

    Every month that I look at your TBR pile, I still see ‘Cloudsplitter’ sitting there. I can’t wait for you to read it. It is definately not a quick read, but I thought is was just great. Maybe with a little prodding you will pick it up one of these months :)

    You know what? I have picked that one up and ALMOST read it about 300 times.

    I should just jump in, huh?
