So, during a day where my son did all of the following:
-Opened a pack of poker chips I didn’t know we had and proceeded to dump them everywhere
-Took every single one of his 1,309 books off of his shelf… twice
-Tore the house to bits
-Got stuck in his toy tub in the bath
-Unrolled a whole roll of toilet paper on the floor
-Broke my little clip-on reading light
-and most importantly: refused to nap… all day…
I came across this little gem on Salon: Reading Retreats: Paradise for Booklovers
Seriously.
People do this. Get together or go alone and just…. read. It’s like a vacation but better because it’s just coziness and reading.
The girl who wrote the article said she wouldn’t want to do that in the summer but… hello? Are you kidding me? I would leave tomorrow.
She’s going to a cabin for FOUR WEEKS to just read.
I cannot possibly imagine anything more glorious.
I’m in.
Who’s with me?

That sounds like a great vacation! I need a two week vacation to tackle a good chunk of my TBR pile. Sometimes my job gets in the way of my real job – reading!
If my life was as crazy as yours is, I would be with ya! Hopefully IF I get pregnant I will be wishing for some alone time as well.
Sign me up, book my flight whatever – I’m going with you!
What a great site – and what an amazing idea. I think I could handle it at a little more relaxed, like every other day reading the same book and discussing, not sure if I could do every evening.
And to be in a lovely castle and read wherever you want, in the gardens, on the balcony, by the windows, ahhhhh, heavenly for sure.
I’m there.
