The Book: Novel About My Wife, by Emily Perkins
The Story: So Tom & Ann are this fairly happy couple. Tom is wild about his wife and they kind of have a good thing going. Ann gets pregnant around the age of 40 and they move into this new house and things start getting a little chaotic.
Here’s the thing: Tom thinks Ann is losing it… either that or there really are rats filling their house and a homeless man stalking her.
What I Thought: Ugh.
That’s it. Ugh.
I don’t really know how to express the mediocrity that was this book.
It wasn’t awful- the writing was too good for that…. but it was not good by any means- the story wasn’t good enough for that.
It was just kind of nothing.
To be perfectly honest, I have a list of books that I need to still review and this morning, when this was at the top of my list, I kind of scratched my head. I didn’t even remember it. I had to look it up on Goodreads. Reading the blurb sparked my memory, but the fact that I can completely block out a book that I read a month ago? Not a good sign.
I never got lost in the story or cared what happened next. I just kind of wanted it to be over.
Just like I want this review to be over.
That’s all.
Conclusion: You can find something better than this to read. I can’t imagine who I would even recommend this to, so feel free to skip it. I just saved you several hours of your life. You are welcome.

Jacki,
This review is so awesome. I feel like we’ve all read books like this and even though this one never caught my attention and probably never would have been on my TBR pile, I still thought this review was great. I know exactly how you felt when you read this and hopefully you won’t have to read any more like it anytime soon. =)
I had blah books. Thanks for saving me from ever wasting time on this one.
