Hey! I was crazy, out-of-control busy for the entire month of June and just realized that I didn’t once blog hop. Crazy! This week has been wonderful because we have friends in from out of town that we haven’t seen since our trip to Florida in February. This trip has been especially fun because both of our boys are around the same age and their mobile and social and hilarious now. Ha. To say that it’s chaotic would be an understatement, but I could watch them all day long. Liam + Isaac= BFF. Seriously. It’s also fun because they are big book nerds like us, so Kyle just stands in front of my shelves, picks out a book asks me how it was and a whole, big conversation ensues. We talk books about 10 hours a day. So fun.
On to the hop!
If you aren’t familiar, the Book Blog Hop is hosted by Jenn over at Crazy for Books and is just a chance to get new visitors to your blog and, in turn, check out a bunch of great new blogs. I’ve found some of my favorite book blogs this way and get so exited every week to find new ones.
The question this week is: What keeps you reading beyond the first few pages of a book and what makes you want to stop reading and put the book back on the shelf?
This is a little tough because it varies. I think that the biggest thing that keeps me reading is a bit of suspense or curiosity. I want to be intrigued and drawn in by either the characters, the circumstances or the mystery. I also want to know what’s going on.
I would say that confusion is the thing that makes me want to ditch a book, but honestly I usually give it quite a while because I have faith that the author will smooth it out eventually and I’ll get a little lightbulb.
Again, if you’re here from the Hop, thanks for stopping by! Leave a comment with a link to your blog and I’ll be sure to repay the visit!

I agree, I try to finish all the books I read and not give up too soon, although sometimes I have to give up if I feel like I should be reading something else I’ll enjoy more. The Japanese library is cool too!
I couldn’t agree more.
I don’t know why I keep reading a book. It’s not the story. It’s not the characters. I really don’t know!
I’m hopping by to tell you that I’ve got a wonderful giveaway going on at my blog, Readerbuzz. It’s international! During the Readerbuzz July Giveaway I’ll be giving away a $25 Amazon gift card! I’d love to have you stop in and throw your name in the hat to win!

These book blogger hop questions just get better and better. This one looks easy but I think it’s a trick question. We all know it’s the same answer – the writing – but we all have different perspectives of what good writing is.
Hop on over to my blog at http://www.howardsherman.net and read my three-prong answer as I explain why I’ll decide to pick up a book or put it down in under sixty seconds.
Happy July 4th Weekend!

Hopping through. I hate feeling confused while reading. I will give the book a long try but I don’t want to be confused halfway through.
