Morning! Hope everyone had a great week. I was kind of off kilter all week and capped it off yesterday by shattering a picture frame off of the wall and my iPod Touch both in the span of about 3 minutes, no joke. Maybe it’s the weather (never ending rain) or how busy we’ve been, but I just can’t really seem to get it together. We have a long weekend coming up with not too, too much on the agenda though, so I’m really, really looking forward to that. Does anyone have big plans for Memorial Day weekend?
On to the hop!
If you aren’t familiar, the Book Blog Hop is hosted by Jenn over at Crazy for Books and is just a chance to get new visitors to your blog and, in turn, check out a bunch of great new blogs. I’ve found some of my favorite book blogs this way and get so exited every week to find new ones.
The question this week is: What book-to-movie adaptation have you most liked? Which have you disliked?
One that I have really liked: Silence of the Lambs. I thought that this book was only so-so, just this pretty normal “mystery” type book… and the movie is phenomenal, one of my all-time favorites. It was fairly true to the book but Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins took this up a notch. If you have never seen this, rent it, buy it, look it up on Netflix, something. So, so good. Very, very rarely (in my mind) does a movie one-up the book, but I really think that happened in this case
One that I have disliked: I’m not one of these people who really expect a movie to ever live up to the complexity that you find in books, so I don’t let myself get really excited or really disappointed by many book-to-movie adaptations. One that I thought was pretty awful was The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. I thought that the books were adorable and kind of great. I read them with my best friend when we were in high school and we went together to see the movie. We were way let down. I think that the thing that made the books great was this beautiful, complex friendship that these girls share. In the movie it just kind of seemed like that was absent. It really seems like making this movie would be straight forward, but there was just something off in the chemistry. If I remember correctly, I think that they mashed the story-lines from the first two books into one book, but that didn’t bother me half as much as the lack of depth in the girls’ friendship.
Again, if you’re here from the Hop, thanks for stopping by! Leave a comment with a link to your blog and I’ll be sure to repay the visit!

I haven’t seen the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, although I liked the book. I think it’s interesting how a movie can sometimes turn things so completely around — almost like they read a different book and then made the movie.
Happy Hopping — and hope your weekend is a good one!
Great choice, have a happy Friday!
