A couple of weeks ago, I was sitting absolutely shocked in front of the computer as pictures of the devastation in the south started popping up. We don’t have a TV so we had to wait until information made it to the internet… and I was totally overwhelmed.
Through the evening I had been following several friends on Twitter as they headed to basements and just prayed. While all of my friends made it through fine, there are so many that did not. There were whole towns, whole cities that were just flattened. Over 300 were killed, 200ish in Alabama alone. Unreal.
One of my blogger friends, Crystal, was on vacation at the time and just had to watch on the news as tornados plowed through her town. She had to wait until phones were back up to find out if she even still had a house. Damage to her house was minimal but her area was tore up. As soon as she got home, she started trying to figure out how she could help.
She got together with another blogger, Courtney, and All 4 Alabama was born.
They got some incredible book related items donated- from signed books to critiques of your writing by famous authors and everything in-between. On the blog they are going to post all these items and you, my lovely readers, need to go bid on them! It’s a silent auction via the internet and every single dime goes to disaster relief in Alabama. The girls have decided to adopt a small town that isn’t getting much coverage or help and give all the money to them. This is more than a good cause. This is people’s lives, their well-being. You can help.
The auctions go live today at 11 a.m. Eastern time and you better believe that I’ll have my buns over there bidding. All items start at just 5 dollars, so you may have the opportunity to get a great deal AND help people who need it. What could be better?
