Thursday, I wrote about reading Blankets and being underwhelmed because I am no longer all angsty.
Turns out it’s all-too-common.
Flavorwire put out a list on that same day (it was meant to be!) of books that you loved when you were 16 but don’t (or can’t) still love.
It’s funny because I absolutely did love The Fountainhead, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, and The Catcher in the Rye. I’ve not tried to re-read any of those as an adult, but I wonder if I’d still be as enamored.
I’ve never read the “read these instead” books, but I think I just added a few to my list of books I need to read.
Are there books you loved as a teen but now don’t seem as powerful? What do you think of this list?
