Book I Just Gave Up On: The Confessions of Max Tivoli

Ok, I gave it a go, I really did.  After 3 days, I was only on page 50 or so because I just couldn’t get into it…and I came across this sentence:

“She swam like a mermaid in the swamp-tank of my dreams.”

and only a few pages later:

“I have made my heart into a camellia floating in a bowl of clear, pure water when in fact it was a dark and bloated thing.”

Huh?

Moving on…

lol. I wasn’t especially impressed with Max Tivolli either, although I did manage to finish. My main problem was that I thought it was stealing ideas from Benjamin Button

Are you trying to tell me that you’ve never once felt like a camellia floating in a bowl of clear, pure water? I’m so sad for you.
