Bookish Thoughts: Most Hated Characters

This blog has a pretty interesting article about the most hated characters in literature.

Check it out.

My Thoughts:

I hope that this is “in no particular order” because while Bella & Edward are hated, taking the number one spot seems pretty extreme.

Who could hate Holden?  I frigging love him.

Scarlett O’Hara is on there, but I’m pretty sure that you’re supposed to dislike her.  She is selfish and snotty and rude.  I think it’s perfect that she made this list, but I think that it’s funny that their comment says that people think that she is romantic and admirable… and I’d venture to say that those people have only seen the movie.

Speaking of Gone with the Wind… who hates Melanie?! Come on, now.

Ahh, I love that Karen Brewer made this list.  Baby-Sitter’s Club, I love you.

Bob Ewell in To Kill A Mockingbird is one of the best-written villains ever.  I remember reading this and just feeling slimy every time his name came up.

Voldemort: So evil you don’t even want to say his name.  Glad he made the list.

Jack Merridew in Lord of the Flies.  There’s nothing like hating kids, huh?! But seriously, he’s creepy and evil.

What do you think?  Who is on here that shouldn’t be?  Who would you add?

I used to love Karen Brewer! No way did I hate her! Baby Sitter’s Club books were the best.

I also hope it’s in no particular order. Bella and Edward may be annoying, but some of those characters are truly evil. Thanks for posting.
