Oh Friday, I love you. This has been a crazy week for me. The bad news: I got four teeth pulled and some other various (disgusting) mouth stuff taken care of and now I’m coming down with some gross cold. The good news: I’m posting my first blog from our new 27 inch iMac. It’s obscenely big and I’m in love with it.
Anyway, if you’re visiting from the Hop, I’m glad you stopped by! It’s been so fun over the last month to get so many new visitors and in turn find so many great book blogs. It’s fun to know that I’m in good company. I think I’m going to like this blog hop thing.
This week’s question is: “What very popular and hyped book in the blogosphere did you NOT enjoy and how did you feel about posting your review?”
This is a hard one for me only because I am a big cheapskate. Unless I end up on an ARC tour or have the gumption to request a book at the library I usually don’t read the new “it” book because I am too cheap to pay for new books.
It’s been about a year ago that I read it, but I didn’t really enjoy books in The Luxe series that I read. I didn’t hate the first one, but Rumors was awful and I didn’t even keep going with the series. To be honest, I was mostly drawn to these books by their beautiful covers and I don’t really think that they offer much more than that. I guess by not reading the rest of the series, I’m not giving them a fair chance but for me this one was just too awful. Meh.
I’ve never been one to feel bad about writing a negative review, so it didn’t bother me at all to say that I didn’t like Rumors. I was kind of sad because I WANTED to like it so much, but as far as feeling like I was hurting the authors feelings or letting big Luxe fans down…. that didn’t even cross my mind. I like the fact that I can write good, honest reviews and let my readers know how I feel about books.
Again, thanks for stopping by! Did you read The Luxe series? Did you like it? Should I keep going after Rumors because it gets better? If you’re new to my blog, leave me a comment so I can head over to your blog and check it out. Have a great Friday and happy hopping!

I agree with your assessment of the Luxe series although I didn’t like the first book even. The books made me sad.

I haven’t read the Luxe books yet, but the covers are stunning. I’m definitely drawn to them because of that. Who knows what I’ll think of the actual story?
I don’t feel bad about writing negative reviews either. Every book is not for every reader. Simple as that.
Glad to have found you via the Hop!
Hopping through. I enjoyed the Luxe books partly because I wanted to. They take awhile to get into. I can see why you wouldn’t like them as much.
My Hop
Just hopping by to say Hi. I’m fairly new to the wonderful book blogosphere, so I’m still anxiously waiting to read my first overhyped book within the community…..
Also, It’s not really a flashback for me, because I only read it 6 months ago, but I love Anne Shirley!
Stop by if you get a chance. http://twobibliomaniacs.blogspot.com
The Luxe series covers were absolutely gorgeous, I considered reading but quickly realised I probably won’t like them.
I only choose hyped books that intrigue me but there have been a few that is just not my cup of tea.
Maybe I need to choose better, that is a goal for next year.
My response to my question.

Reviews should remain honest regardless of what is written and how it sounds like and this just shows that loving or liking a book really depends on a person preference and type. that’s why we have a wider range of genres and authors to choose from.
Dropping by via the hop. I would love to see you over at Clandestine Sanctuary and read my answer to this question. I am an old follower.
Have a great weekend!
