Lovely Little Shelf

I remember hearing news a few months ago that Ann M. Martin finally bit and decided to write another Baby-Sitter’s Club book.  Instead of continuing the series, she decided to write a prequel and revise the original series to make it more “modern.”

Well, the prequel, The Summer Before, was released on Thursday and I almost entirely forgot to tell you! In fact, it had *gasp* slipped my mind too. So, I just want to let you know it exists. And I’m going to try to get my hands on it tonight.  I literally feel like squealing.

Awesome, right?

Here’s a little article about the plans for the rewritten series from the Washington Post. It talks about how people have asked Ann M. Martin to write about the girls as college age or adults.  She has said no so far, but maybe she’ll cave sometime.  I’d drop everything in my life, neglect my husband, let my house get trashed, anything to read about Claudia and Kristy and… well… all of them… again. Oh my word.

I haven’t even covered the BSC in my Flashback Fridays because it’s too much to even write.  I loved these books more than anyone I’ve ever met. And the TV series. And the movie. And the board game.

Actually, funny story: we found my sister-in-law’s old Baby-Sitter’s Club game at my mother-in-law’s house and Shaun was asking me all the trivia questions. I answered all of them correctly. It’s a source of both nerdy shame and pride for me.  Even my nerdy-to-the-max husband thought it was a little over the top.

What can I say? I love me some Baby-Sitter’s Club.
