This has really bugged me since the e-book craze first started- the product itself is kind of pricy, and the e-books are still just a little less than a book you can buy at the bookstore. I’ve tried to figure out how that is possible- the publishing company is taking out the cost of printing and the cost of shipment, which seems like it would make a really dramatic difference in the price of the final product.
Well. Here’s my answer:
Math of Publishing Meets the E-Book
So, there ya go.

Great post. I have always looked at the Kindle price $9.99 being great as it is much lower than hardbacks and I love a hardback.
When I see ebooks for less than $5 I almost feel guilty.
Kendall and I were at Jeffersnville and the Borders outlet is closing and we were actually talkng about whether eBooks would do to bookstores what iTunes did to music stores. Even at 9.99, the cost of an eBook is significantally cheaper than a new release, but I will still buy any new release book by certain authors to keep my collection compete… How funny that we were just talkng about this though.
I have an award for you.
